Bring a witness if you have suffered a fit or keep his/her contact ready if witness cannot be brought in person.

This study examines integrity of peripheral nerves and muscles of the body. It does not examine the brain or spinal cord. It also does not measure pain.
Each test varies from patient to patient, depending on what results are obtained. It may take 30 min. to more than an hour to complete a single study.
Nerve conduction study is performed using a stimulator which delivers a small current. These are not painful but may feel a bit uncomfortable.
The EMG examines the muscle activity. It is performed by inserting a needle in various muscles and results are monitored on a computer. It does not involve any shocks. You should notify if you have hepatitis, AIDS or any bleeding tendency before the test.
Hands and feet should be cleaned before the study particularly should be made free of dirt, cream or lotion. Loose clothing should be worn during the test.
